ATHLETIC FACILITIES

Along with the Salem Civic Center, separate athletic facilities are also part of the James E. Taliferro Sports & Entertainment Complex. These major-league quality fields, stadiums and courts include: Lewis-Gale Medical Center Field at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium, Salem Football Stadium, James Moyer Sports Complex & The Salem Civic Center Coliseum

Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium

Opened in 1995
Seating capacity of 6,300

Red Sox tickets can be purchased at the Stadium Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM or by calling the Ticket Office at (540) 389-3333. The official Salem Red Sox web site has news, schedules, box scores and more.

SALEM FOOTBALL STADIUM

Opened in 1986
Seating capacity 7,157 people

The football stadium is located behind the Salem Civic Center and beside the Memorial Baseball Stadium. It hosts a variety of events from the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl to the Summer Music Games of Southwest Virginia.

JAMES MOYER SPORTS COMPLEX

Moyer Complex

Located off site but near the complex, at 1000 Union Street in Salem VA

  • All electronic Multipurpose Scoreboards - Baseball, softball, soccer, and football.
  • Portable fencing - can be set up at 275' or 200' for little league or the permanent fencing is at 300'.
  • Dugouts - restrooms, water fountains, intercom system to third floor of tower.
  • Seating capacity - bleachers comfortably seat 2,400 for all four fields with additional portable seating available when needed.
  • Restrooms - Large and clean men's and women's public restrooms to accommodate any size event.
  • Concession stand - located on the first floor of tower for easy access to all fields.
  • Second floor tower - Tournament headquarters with 5 phone outlets, locker rooms, restrooms for tournament officials and umpires, intercom system to gatehouse, multi-purpose meeting room.
  • Third floor of tower - tournament P.A. announcers, official scorekeepers, clock operators, communication to each dugout as well as umpire communication. There is storage utility room where the well water sprinkler system controls are located and can be operated with a push of a button to water infields and outfields. Intercom from the third to second floor as well as to gatehouse. Audio units are located here which enable you to play the National anthem on one or all fields. Also a master P.A. which enables an override to all four P.A. systems.
  • Other Features - the Lighting System is 50/30 maintain which is equal to a Triple A baseball lighting system. Also additional parking is available.
