ADA

The Salem Civic Center offers ADA compliant seating in 4 options for our events: Wheelchair (located on a platform; you remain in your wheelchair); Wheelchair Companion (your guest is seated either behind or beside you depending on the location. There are usually additional seats in the general vicinity as well); Limited Mobility (seats that do not have any steps to get to the seats) and Sight / Hearing Impaired (seats that are close to the performance.) ADA seating tickets are available via all sales channels on a first come first served basis.

ADA parking is available onsite and is on a first come first serve basis.

ANIMALS

Animals are prohibited in the building, with the exception of service animals assisting guests with special needs. Comfort animals are not allowed.

ATM is located outside in front of the Salem Civic Center.

BABY CHANGING STATIONS

All Men's & Women's restrooms are equipped with baby changing stations.

BANNERS/SIGNS/FLAGS

Banners and signs may not be displayed during performances due to sight line restrictions. Signs may not be placed on railings or walls. Additionally, banners and signs that are offensive, vulgar, or commercial in nature will not be permitted in the building.

BAG POLICY

As of September 2022, the Salem Civic Center has a clear bag policy. Bags must be clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and cannot exceed 12" x 6" x 12" or clear one-gallon plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bag or similar) are also permitted.

Small clutch bags/wallets no larger than 5.5" x 8.5" (with or without a handle or strap) can be taken into the arena and will be subject to search.

An exception will be made for items necessary for medical reasons after proper inspections at the door by Salem Civic Center staff.

Prohibited bags include but are not limited to: purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size. No diaper bags or backpacks allowed unless clear and meeting new guidelines

Pre-approved media will enter at the Box Office entrance and check in to have their bags checked.

BOX OFFICE

The Salem Civic Center Box Office is located in the main lobby and is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Box office hours on the day of an event vary depending on show times. All ticket sales are FINAL, NO Refunds or Exchanges.

Tickets to events can also be purchased online anytime at Ticketmaster.com. The Salem Civic Center cannot guarantee tickets that were not purchased at the Box Office or Ticketmaster.com

CAMERAS

The camera policy for events will vary. Please check the listing for each event for that show's camera policy, which is subject to change without notice. In most cases for concerts, cell phone cameras are fine but cameras with removable lenses will not be allowed.

CATERING

All catering is provided exclusively in-house by Salem Catering. Salem Catering provides complete catering services with a variety of menus for any type of event. Outside food and beverages of any kind may NOT be brought into the facility.

CHILDREN'S TICKET POLICY

Children over the age of 2 years old (24 months) must have a ticket for admission to most events. Those under 2 years old must sit on a parent’s lap. Family shows normally require a ticket for those age 1 and over. Guidelines may vary for each event. Please check the listing for each event or call our main office at 540-375-3004.

CONCESSIONS

All concessions are provided exclusively in-house by Salem Catering. All concession stands operate as cashless. Major credit/ debit cards are accepted. Outside food and beverages of any kind may NOT be brought into the building without previous approval by management.

For any situation regarding lost and found items during or after an event, please go to the Administrative Office located in the Main Lobby. You may also call the Civic Center at 540-375-3004 in the days following an event to see if your item has been turned in.

MEETING SPACE

The Salem Civic Center has 6 meeting rooms and 41,868 square feet of useable space. We can accommodate a small board meeting or a large convention. Reach out to Chris Fischer to find a solution to meet your needs - cfischer@salemva.gov.

PARKING

The Salem Civic Center offers plenty of FREE parking onsite with 4,000 free, lighted and police patrolled parking spaces. Parking for the Salem Civic Center shows is available in the front parking lots and the Salem Stadium lot located behind the Salem Civic Center. ADA parking is available onsite and is on a first come first serve basis.

Preferred Parking (PP) available on select events (Fee applies). PP is located on the Salem Red Sox side of the building.

RESTROOMS

Salem Civic Center has multiple restrooms located throughout the building. All restrooms are accessible for physically disabled guests. For the closest restroom, please see a Civic Center staff member.

SALEM FAIR

The Salem Fair is the largest fair in the state of Virginia and has been recognized as one of the top 100 fairs and expositions in the country with an estimated attendance of 350,000. The Salem Fair takes place every July at the Salem Civic Center, offering free parking and free admission.

SMOKING

Salem Civic Center is a smoke free facility. Smoking cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vaporizers, and other similar products, is prohibited inside the facility. Outdoor smoking sections are provided at events.

SOLICITATION

The distribution of promotional items, handbills, flyers, pamphlets, printed materials, as well as the solicitation of performers is not permitted without the express written consent of the Salem Civic Center or the City of Salem.

STADIUMS

Located on 65 acres of land, the complex is home to not only the Salem Civic Center, but also Salem Football Stadium and Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. Salem Football Stadium is a 7,157 seat municipal stadium and is home to the Salem High School Spartan Football team!

Right next door to the football facility you’ll find Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. This state-of-the-art minor league baseball facility seats 6,300 fans and is currently the home of the Boston Red Sox Class A farm team, the Salem Red Sox.

STROLLERS

Only umbrella type strollers that can be safely stored beneath the guest’s seats will be permitted. All other types of strollers are prohibited and will not be secured or stored.

TAILGATING

Tailgating is not allowed on Salem Civic Center property or parking facilities.
